Yogic Lore Flow: Flowing into Abundance

with Guest Instructor Kimi Marin!

When: March 28th
What Time: 5:30-6:30pm.

Mythology is a narrative that explains how the world, and all its inhabitants, came to exist and are often used to teach and establish behavioral models. Similarly in yoga, the poses we embody are part of a richly diverse spiritual tradition. Many of the philosophies, rituals, and poses of yoga are adapted from various texts and myths.

Join us for a transformative Yogic Lore Flow class! Kimi Marin will guide you through a hatha flow class as she tells you a myth to guide you into the different aspects of yourself. You will explore mudras (hand gestures), pranayama, and mediation allowing a deeper connection between mind, body, and spirit.

Kimi Marin is a Portland-base yoga teacher who helps people find clarity in their mind, body and spirit. She guides students through their practice by riding the waves of breath, energetically aligning breath and body.

Kimi has a master’s degree in literature, and loves to combine the power of stories with yoga. She often weaves the myths and stories about various poses into the class. Her transformative Yogic Lore Flow workshops are a fun combination of stories, asana, meditation, and mantra.

Kimi was featured in Origin Magazine’s Inspire Series, was the featured ambassador for Ahnu Footwear June 2013, and her writing has been published on several blog sites. www.kimimarinyoga.com

Body-Led Singing

When: Thursday March 12th
What Time: 6-7:15pm.
Donation Based

Body-Led Singing incorporates aspects of singing, yoga and dance, with breath as the common thread.  The basic concepts of singing are taught in a very unconventional way.  Come if you are curious and have a desire to play :).

The combination of improvisation, toning and embodying rhythms builds new connections in the mind and body.  Free vocalization connects the emotional centers of the brain with the language centers. The result is a more beautiful singing voice and a more powerful speaking voice.

It may sound serious but it’s actually a very playful process! We laugh often:).

Sunday Salon Series (every other Sunday)

When: every other Sunday of the month.
What Time: 7:00pm.
Suggested donation: $12-$25

In collaboration with CSE (Community Supported Everything: Portland’s own innovative organization based in ideals of cooperative exchange and the gift economy), Vibrant Studios is pleased to present a new Sunday Salon Series. Every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month will feature a local expert or artisan from a wide variety of fields: from storytelling, to cuisine, to visual art, to music and movement. Come engage in this unique opportunity to listen and discuss with a variety of Portland artists, foodies, and performers. A nourishing and delicious meal will be prepared for attendees, accompanied by local brews and vegan chocolates.

The events feature facilitator & artist Sam Smith and the culinary musings of studio owner Sophie Lippert (who worked under James Beard nominated chef Anita Jaisinghani). The evenings include a spoken presentation, followed by a casual time for round-table discussion, questions, comments, and interaction with the group that has gathered. Our hope is to create an inspired shared space for fostering community, and establishing bonds with the incredible individuals of Portland who are interested in supporting, growing, and networking with local businesses and art experiences. Profits from this dinner will benefit both CSE and Vibrant Studios in their efforts to create nurturing and fruitful opportunities for all members of the Portland community.

HIGHLIGHTS:
Seasonal meal (gluten-free, dairy-free) utilizing local ingredients and chef Sophie Lippert.
Local artisan vegan chocolates.
Beer from CSB (Community Supported Brewing)/ wine from local vintners.
Presentation by storyteller Sam Smith, and rotating cast & crew of guests.
